Harvey AI: Legal Startup Valued at $5 Billion Is Transforming the Legal World

Harvey AI has just reached a major milestone in the history of artificial intelligence startups. In just four months, the company's valuation climbed from $3 billion to an impressive $5 billion. This 67% jump represents one of the fastest growth rates in today's technology landscape. In June 2025, the startup closed a $300 million Series E round. The funding was co-led by investors Kleiner Perkins and Coatue, with existing investors including Conviction, Elad Gil, OpenAI Startup Fund, and Sequoia Capital also participating.

Specialization in Legal Automation

Harvey AI focuses on automating legal tasks using generative artificial intelligence. The platform helps law firms and corporate legal departments with tasks such as:

  • Document review
  • Contract drafting
  • Legal research
  • Due diligence (proper care during investigations)

The company currently serves 337 legal clients and is rapidly expanding its reach. It employs 340 people and plans to double its workforce using the new capital.

Financial Results and Further Development

Harvey AI's growth is not just on paper. The company's annualized revenue reached $75 million by April 2025, up from $50 million earlier in the year. This growth momentum reflects genuine demand for automation in the legal sector, which has traditionally been highly resistant to technological innovation.

Harvey AI does not plan to remain solely in the legal sector. The company aims to expand its AI products into other areas of professional services, particularly tax advisory. This diversification strategy could significantly increase the company's growth potential.

Harvey AI's success symbolizes the broader trend of transforming professional services through artificial intelligence. Sectors that have historically relied on manual work are now undergoing a revolution thanks to automation. This not only reduces costs but also increases the efficiency and accuracy of legal work.
