Amazon Unveils Its New AI Glasses for Delivery Drivers

Amazon has unveiled new AI-powered smart glasses designed specifically for its delivery drivers. The glasses are currently being tested in real-world conditions and are intended to help improve safety, navigation, and overall delivery speed. According to available information from the tests, the glasses automatically activate a heads-up display directly in the driver's field of vision, allowing them to focus on the road without constantly looking at their phone.

The glasses integrate advanced computer vision and artificial intelligence to provide key features such as hands-free package scanning, turn-by-turn walking directions, and hazard identification in the surrounding area. For example, after the vehicle is parked, the glasses activate automatically and display the necessary delivery information, including the correct package and address. Thanks to Amazon's geospatial technology, they also help drivers navigate complex environments, such as large apartment complexes, where they would otherwise have to constantly check their phones.

Making Work Easier and More Comfortable

Amazon collaborated with hundreds of delivery drivers during development to ensure that the glasses would be comfortable to wear all day and provide a clear visual display. Initial testers report that the glasses allow them to keep their eyes forward and feel safer while working. The devices also capture proof of delivery, simplifying the entire process. A pilot phase is currently underway, with further adjustments being made based on driver feedback.

These glasses are part of Amazon's broader effort to integrate artificial intelligence and robotics into logistics, with the aim of speeding up deliveries and improving the employee experience. Initial feedback from the tests has been positive, and the glasses are described as a futuristic tool resembling a heads-up display from video games that brings real benefits to everyday work.
