Overview of AI Browsers and Their Pros and Cons

Nowadays, browsers with artificial intelligence (AI) are becoming an essential tool for anyone who wants to work more efficiently on the web. Based on tests by AIMultiple, we compared nine key solutions, including Perplexity Comet, Arc Max, Microsoft Edge Copilot, and ChatGPT Atlas. These browsers were evaluated based on response quality, feature availability, web content processing, and privacy protection. The results revealed that some models excel at autonomous tasks, while others focus on simple assistance. For example, Perplexity Comet can independently browse websites and complete complex tasks, and has been available free of charge since October 2, 2025. By contrast, Arc Max offers contextual features without a traditional chat, making it ideal for those who prefer a clean interface.

The tests included tasks such as summarizing the AIMultiple homepage or analyzing a long article about agentic AI in cybersecurity. Perplexity Comet independently visited the page and provided a structured summary with specific examples, such as AI benchmarks and LLM (large language model) calculators. Microsoft Edge Copilot correctly identified sections such as enterprise software insights and highlighted transparency. Brave Leo worked immediately without registration, covered enterprise insights, AI benchmarks, and calculators, and also suggested follow-up questions. ChatGPT Atlas analyzed the page through a sidebar with browser memory, making it possible to answer questions using context from previous browsing.

When analyzing a long article about agentic AI for cybersecurity, Perplexity Comet divided the content into sections such as SecOps (security operations) and AppSec (application security), with examples including the University of Kansas Health System and APi Group. Microsoft Edge Copilot organized the findings into clear sections, including SecOps automation and implementation challenges. Brave Leo described autonomous AI operations, applications in SecOps and AppSec, the benefits of automation, and potential difficulties. Arc Max provided a detailed analysis but was somewhat repetitive, emphasizing autonomous decision-making and real-time monitoring.

Feature availability and accessibility

Availability is a key factor when choosing a browser. Perplexity Comet was previously available only to Perplexity Max subscribers for $200 per month, but is now free for everyone. Microsoft Edge Copilot requires the Edge browser to be installed and offers better features through Microsoft 365 integration. ChatGPT Atlas is free for basic use, but agent mode requires a ChatGPT Plus subscription for $20 per month (about CZK 460) or Pro for $200 per month (around CZK 4,600), and is currently available only for macOS. Brave Leo works immediately without payment and passed all the tests. Arc Max offers unlimited access, but only to right-click features. Opera Aria is free but often fails at contextual tasks. Sigma AI has a functional chat but cannot access external pages.

Web content processing

The ability to process web content varies. Perplexity Comet autonomously navigated websites and completed tasks across multiple applications, but requires extensive access to data. Microsoft Edge Copilot effectively analyzed articles and structured them into sections with examples. Brave Leo consistently summarized pages and analyzed technical texts, with conversations stored locally for privacy. ChatGPT Atlas automatically processes content through the sidebar, maintains context across tabs, and, in agent mode, completes tasks such as making reservations or filling out forms. Arc Max excels at quick right-click actions. Sigma AI cannot visit URLs, which limits its usefulness.

Privacy protection is another important consideration. Microsoft Edge Copilot integrates with Microsoft services and has clear policies for cloud processing. Brave Leo stores conversations locally, does not collect personal data, and supports models such as Mixtral, Claude, and Llama. ChatGPT Atlas offers optional browser memory, allowing users to control saved pages, while incognito mode prevents saving. Arc Max transparently shares data with AI partners without a retention policy. Opera Aria complies with GDPR but often falls short in implementation. Sigma AI encrypts conversations end to end but lacks web access.

Feature comparison and recommendations

The comparison highlights the differences between agents and assistants. Agents such as Perplexity Comet and Strawberry Browser browse the web independently, while assistants such as Arc Max, Brave Leo, and Microsoft Edge Copilot help with manual browsing. The feature matrix includes voice input, search integration, bookmark management, and support for multiple LLMs. For example, ChatGPT Atlas supports voice, search, bookmark management, and models such as DALL-E for image generation, with an agent available in Plus/Pro. Perplexity Comet offers smart bookmarks, product reservations, and coding assistance. Brave Leo offers multiple models, including BYOM (bring your own model) through Ollama.

When choosing, consider your use case: Perplexity Comet for advanced automation, Arc Max for a clean interface, Microsoft Edge Copilot for enterprise environments, and Brave Leo for privacy. They all share content generation, page summarization, and translation features, with support across platforms such as Windows, macOS, and Android.
