If you haven't figured it out yet, it seems that many ghosts and spirits like to spend their time in the Fort Worth area. After all, who wouldn't want to return to a place they know and love if given the chance? Another positive thing worth mentioning is that none of these ghosts seem evil or malicious, except for the few mentioned who may be up to no good. Overall, each ghost seems more mischievous than anything else.
I say this because I believe that if a person can see a ghost or spirit, it is truly a special gift—you are given the ability to glimpse another space and time and transcend the present reality in which too many of us are stuck without ever questioning it.
As a final experiment, try to imagine this: have you ever asked another person whether they have seen or believe in ghosts? Many people will say no and move on, depending on how much you press them for an answer. In my experience, however, there are plenty of unexpected people whom you would never imagine believing in ghosts, yet they have many stories to tell. They seem almost relieved when they can share them with someone who will listen.
Now I jokingly say that if all those ghost stories are true, then there are far more ghosts than living people right now. Honestly, I don't believe that in the slightest. I do believe, however, that there is something out there, and sometimes we have the honor of being given a chance to understand and glimpse it. I say that is a good thing.
My last two ghost stories, before I give you a few more ideas for haunted places in the Fort Worth area, are unsettling at best. I travel a lot, and I only began to enjoy ghost stories in Fort Worth. I admit that I am usually quite disappointed by what I learn because the stories often seem made up. These stories were not so disappointing; in fact, they were downright frightening.
When I was in Italy several years ago, we were staying in his old house in the small town of Morcone. The house is hundreds of years old and had a history even before the Mastracchio family owned it. One night, I got up to go to the bathroom, which meant walking through the lounge and entrance hall and then up a short flight of stairs. It was somewhat dark, and every time I visited that house, both before and afterward, I could feel a great deal of energy from the family there.
As I came out of the bathroom and headed back down the stairs, a hand suddenly pushed me down. I fell about four steps onto the marble floor (there are no carpets in that house) and landed on my back. I paused for a moment and thought about what had just happened. I was lucky not to have been seriously injured. I was quite sore the next day, but I lived to tell the tale. The local neighbors were rather talkative, and when I told them about the incident, they said that such things happened there all the time. They believe these are the ghosts of former residents, and I have to wonder whether they dislike me. They have left me alone whenever I have visited since then, but I stay alert and am always especially careful on those stairs.
My next story took place in South Africa. There is an inn at a winery, along with several quaint little rooms at the back where the winery's owner is said to have lived before she died. I mentioned that I would like to spend the night there. The people at the winery took me seriously and put me in that haunted room—the room where the owner had lived before her death. I should also mention that during my stay in South Africa, my good friend Fredy from Fort Worth passed away. His death was not unexpected, but I did not have time to return for the funeral.
That night, I fell asleep in the room, but I was thinking about him a great deal. During the night, I woke up and definitely felt that something was in the room with me, watching me. As I lay in bed, one of the drawers in the cabinet to my right opened. Even though I did not sense anything evil or malicious, I was afraid. I also felt that Fredy was there with me, which meant that there were two ghosts—the winery's owner and my friend—and he was watching over me. I sent him messages in my mind, asking him to make sure that the ghost did not hurt me. Eventually, I fell asleep again and everything was fine, but that was the last time I boasted about wanting to spend the night in a haunted room.
