We’re Launching a New Global Startup. And I Believe It Will Be a Level Above Editee

We have created a new startup, and honestly, I feel this is going to be really big.

Over the past few months, my colleague Štěpán and I have been working on a completely new application that I believe could have enormous potential not only in the Czech and Slovak market, but especially globally. We have already gained extensive experience from Editee, which is now used by thousands of people every month and has become one of the largest AI applications in the Czech and Slovak market.

Editee showed us one important thing—if you build a product that genuinely saves people time, helps them create content, and makes complex tasks easier, it can attract a very broad audience. At the same time, it also taught us many things you cannot learn from any book or course. And we now want to put that experience to much better use in our next application.

Why We Are Creating Another Project

Our colleagues have gradually taken over the main development of Editee, freeing me up to focus on other things. And that was no coincidence. We did it intentionally because we wanted to make room for new projects.

In my opinion, diversification is extremely important in business. If everything you have is built around a single project, it may work very well, but you are also highly dependent on it. That is why we wanted to develop another piece of software that would build on our experience with Editee while heading in a completely different direction.

I worked very intensively on the new application for several months. There were days when I worked on it practically from morning until evening. I wrote hundreds of thousands of lines of code, and it gradually evolved into software that I believe is quite unique.

Of course, artificial intelligence plays a major role in it. That probably does not surprise anyone these days. However, I do not want to reveal exactly what the application does just yet, because we are still fine-tuning everything, testing certain parts, and preparing the entire global release so that it makes sense not only technically, but also commercially.

What I can say, however, is that the initial feedback has been incredibly positive.

We Do Not Want to Build Just Another Generic AI Tool

This is probably the most important part of the entire project for me.

Editee is a great application. It helps generate text, graphics, audio, and other content. It is a product that provides significant value to many people. At the same time, Štěpán and I often say that, from a certain perspective, similar tools are more of a “nice to have.”

In other words, something that is useful to have, that helps you and saves you time, but that some people can still manage without.

From a business perspective, however, the “must have” category is much stronger. In other words, a product you genuinely need. Something that becomes part of your everyday work and without which it becomes significantly more difficult to operate.

And that is exactly the direction our new software is taking.

It will not be just another chatbot. It will not be just another text generator. And it certainly will not be something you can easily replace by opening ChatGPT or another general-purpose AI tool. Quite the opposite. The tasks we are addressing here cannot be handled by ordinary generic chatbots alone.

And I believe that is the crucial difference.

Our Experience with Editee Has Helped Us Tremendously

When we launched Editee, we learned many things as we went along. What works in marketing. How to set pricing correctly. How to handle support. How to communicate with users. How to design a product so that people understand it within seconds. How to manage application performance, payments, invoicing, taxes, VAT, reverse charge, and all the things that are not visible from the outside but can consume an incredible amount of time within a company.

And that is where I believe the new project has an enormous advantage.

We are not building it from scratch as complete beginners. We are building it with the knowledge of where we made mistakes before. We know what we would do differently today. We know what needs to be prepared right from the start to avoid problems later.

Editee generates good revenue for us, and I am genuinely pleased with the project. At the same time, however, I feel that the new software will take things to an even higher level.

Not only commercially, but above all technically.

This Time, We Are Targeting the Global Market from the Outset

One of the things we wanted to do differently from the very beginning was to set up the entire project internationally.

With Editee, we continually faced a fairly heavy administrative burden involving taxes, VAT, the transfer of tax liability, reverse charge, and other matters. Anyone who has ever operated a SaaS application in Europe knows that this can be a very unpleasant part of running a business.

It is not just about the payments themselves. It is mainly about the time, energy, accounting, legislation and its constant changes, and dealing with details that distract you from what matters most—product development and company growth.

For the new project, we will therefore operate through a US company and use the Merchant of Record model. Put simply, this means that the payment partner handles payment collection, VAT payments, taxes in individual countries, and other related administration on our behalf.

For us, this is an enormous relief.

Stripe, Paddle, or a similar solution can automatically determine whether a customer should pay VAT, which rules apply to them, and handle the corresponding payment in a specific country. Whether that is in Europe, the US, Australia, or other markets.

This may sound like a minor detail, but from a company and business perspective, it is hugely significant. The less time you spend on administration, the more time you can devote to the product, customers, and growth.

It Is Interesting How Much the Entire Software World Has Changed

Looking back, software used to be sold in a completely different way. You bought a box, a license, installed it on your computer, and received updates from time to time. Today, however, the SaaS model—software as a service—is the standard.

Users do not have to install anything complicated, the service runs online, the product is continuously improved, and the company can respond very quickly to customer feedback.

And this is precisely the environment in which enormous global companies can be built today.

The second major change is artificial intelligence. Today, it makes it possible to automate tasks that were extremely labor-intensive or practically impossible just a few years ago. But at the same time, it is not enough to take an AI model, add an attractive interface, and say you have a startup.

In my opinion, the main winners will be those who can integrate AI into a specific workflow. Into a specific problem. Into something people genuinely deal with every day.

And that is exactly what we are trying to do.

We do not want to create just an attractive piece of technological novelty. We want to create a tool with a clear selling point, clear value, and a genuine reason for people to use it over the long term.

We Have Advanced Technologically

I am also very pleased with the technical side of the application.

We used more modern technologies than we did for Editee (everything has advanced again over the years), and it is already clear that the application feels faster and smoother. It is built as an SPA, or single-page application, which means pages do not need to be reloaded repeatedly and the entire interface is much more responsive for users.

At first glance, this may seem like a technical detail, but in practice it makes an enormous difference. When you work in an application every day, speed and responsiveness determine whether you enjoy using it or whether it starts to annoy you after a while.

At the same time, the entire project has been designed to remain viable in the future. We are planning a mobile application for Android and iOS, as well as versions for macOS and Windows.

This is important to me because I do not want to build just a web application that works “well enough.” I want it to be software that people can use comfortably wherever they actually work.

We Will Not Be Easy to Copy

There are, of course, various software products in the US operating in a similar area. That is normal. Today, someone is doing something in practically every interesting segment.

The difference, however, is that we have also incorporated into the application things I have personally been doing for more than 10 years and have spent years refining in practice. So this is not merely a general idea that someone could easily copy within a few weeks.

Some of the know-how is embedded in the automations, the application logic, the way data is handled, the workflow, and specific details that may not be visible at first glance but ultimately account for a large part of the value.

And that is precisely what I enjoy about it.

What Comes Next

We are planning the major official launch very soon; for now, we are testing and experimenting with everything.

I do not want to publish the address or reveal absolutely everything just yet, because we are still fine-tuning certain things. The graphic designer is completing the final parts, I have coded the application according to my own vision so far, and we are testing individual scenarios and gathering initial feedback.

So far, however, it looks very promising.

The application will be localized into multiple languages, so it will not be intended solely for the Czech and Slovak market. Of course, we want to offer it here as well, because we know the Czech and Slovak market well. But our main ambition is much greater—Europe, the US, and gradually the entire world.

We also plan to market it very aggressively. Much like Editee, perhaps even more so. When we have a product we truly believe in, it makes no sense to release it quietly and wait to see what happens.

We want people to hear about it.

I Believe It Will Be Big

When I look at what we have prepared today, I feel genuinely positive about it.

Editee was, is, and always will be a great project. It taught us a great deal, made us money, and showed us that we can build a product people use. At the same time, however, I feel that this could be even stronger.

We have more experience. We know what to avoid. We have better technology. We have a clearer business model. And most importantly, we have a product that, in my opinion, does not fall merely into the “nice to have” category, but much more into the “must have” category.

And that makes an enormous difference in the SaaS world.

I will reveal more soon, we will publish the details, and we will gradually begin introducing the entire project. For now, all I can say is that I am genuinely looking forward to it.

I believe you will be hearing more about this project.
