Microsoft has clearly shown in recent months that it has no intention of slowing down for even a second in the world of artificial intelligence. It is building its own AI infrastructure, collaborating with giants such as OpenAI, Nvidia, and AMD, and steadily consolidating its position as one of the leading drivers of the technological revolution.
While many companies are still considering how to enter the world of AI, Microsoft has long been operating at full speed. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella himself outlined what the next wave of artificial intelligence should look like and how society should approach it in a recent LinkedIn post.
AI as a platform designed to help everyone
In his post, Nadella describes AI as a platform that should serve everyone, with its success measured when “…the economic value of everyone using it exceeds the value of the company that created it.” Throughout his post, he repeatedly emphasizes that the purpose of artificial intelligence is not to diminish the value of small businesses for the benefit of technology giants, but rather to increase the capabilities and productivity of everyone who uses it.
According to him, this approach is the foundation of technological progress. The future of AI should not be about winners and losers, but about how quickly companies can work together to expand the entire market.
Collaborative development instead of competition
Microsoft's recent announcement confirms that these are not merely appealing phrases. Together with OpenAI and Nvidia, the company has decided to create the first AI “superfactory.” Combining expertise in hardware, software, and research can advance the entire field much faster than if these technology companies competed with one another.
They have similarly integrated the hardware company AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) into their ecosystem. This allows AMD to run GPT models, helping it rapidly develop and improve its own artificial intelligence software.
Artificial intelligence is transforming programming
AI is also bringing enormous changes to programming, and Nadella sees a positive impact in this area as well. According to him, artificial intelligence is not seeking to replace developers. Instead, it is expanding the field of programming and gradually creating ever more opportunities for new companies and specializations.
We will recognize AI's impact once it permeates every industry
According to the post published by Microsoft's CEO on his LinkedIn profile, the goal of the technological revolution is simply not the valuation of AI companies. Their true value will become apparent when they transform the day-to-day operations of businesses.
He illustrates this with examples in which AI enables pharmaceutical companies to develop a new drug in one year instead of twelve, a manufacturer to reorganize its supply chain overnight, teachers to tailor lessons to individual students, or farmers to prevent crop failures through predictive data analysis. Nadella sees this as the true test of the emerging AI era and the true value of AI.
The future lies in control
Nadella sees a parallel between the AI era and the advent of the internet. According to him, however, the internet not only changed the world for the better but also harmed many industries, such as local media. He therefore believes that we do not have to repeat this mistake and can instead use only the positive aspects of the coming era to our advantage.
Companies should therefore retain control over AI and create their own value. According to Nadella, this is precisely how to benefit from artificial intelligence without becoming merely a dependent link in the chain of major players.
