Meta announced during its third-quarter earnings call that more than 10 million people have started using its Muse AI app. CEO Mark Zuckerberg also said approximately 25% of those who have set up the app now use it daily.
Muse uses Plaid’s connector for shopping
Shopping through the AI agent is one use of Muse. Zuckerberg said more than a quarter of engaged users who shopped this way had an average purchase value above $200.
The app uses Plaid’s connector to support these purchases. Plaid connects payment apps with customers’ bank accounts.
Connecting email and calendars
Beyond shopping, Zuckerberg said personal productivity is another popular use. For these tasks, users connect Muse to their email or calendar.
Discussing protection for user information, Zuckerberg described Muse Secure VM as a security feature designed to protect data and privacy. He also mentioned the forthcoming Muse Confidential VM, which he said is intended to prevent even Meta from accessing users’ content.
Meta plans to expand Muse and grow its revenue
Zuckerberg said Muse has found a market, identifying expansion and revenue growth as Meta’s next priorities. The company plans to keep the app free for most users while taking a share of transactions through the platform and charging heavier users for access to its most advanced AI models or additional tokens.
Computing infrastructure is intended to support that expansion. Zuckerberg said Meta is building capacity to serve more than a billion people over the next few years.
He described Muse’s current operation as highly compute-intensive. Over the next year, however, he expects its cost efficiency to improve by more than tenfold, allowing the service to become profitable once revenue reaches sufficient scale.
Muse network would connect personal agents and merchants
Zuckerberg outlined another development direction called Muse network. Under this plan, personal agents would collaborate with agents belonging to friends and family members. When shopping, Muse would communicate directly with a merchant’s agent rather than simply browse its website.
