Czech Companies and AI: Between Passivity and Untapped Potential

Artificial intelligence is changing the world around us faster than many can imagine. But how will Czech companies fare in this technological race? Do we have something to offer, or is the train leaving us behind?

Alarming Passivity of Czech Companies

According to current data, a significant proportion of Czech companies remain surprisingly passive when it comes to implementing artificial intelligence. This lack of interest in progressive technologies is not merely a problem for individual companies – it may represent a fundamental obstacle to the competitiveness of the entire Czech economy. As reported in an analysis published on RMOL.cz, only a small percentage of domestic companies are actively implementing AI solutions in their processes. While companies abroad are investing billions in AI, a wait-and-see strategy still prevails here. Experts warn that this approach may have far-reaching consequences – from a loss of competitiveness to an exodus of talented workers abroad. "The Czech economy has always depended on its ability to adapt to new technologies. If we fall behind in artificial intelligence, it will be very difficult to catch up later," warns Martin Novák, a technology market analyst.

International Perspective: We Have Something to Offer

Despite the slow pace of AI technology adoption on a broader scale, there are top-tier companies in the Czech Republic that excel in this field. This potential was also highlighted by President Petr Pavel during his speech at a prestigious AI summit in Paris. "Czech companies have something to offer in the field of artificial intelligence," President Pavel declared before an international audience of political leaders and technology magnates. He pointed to several successful Czech startups and technology companies that are also making their mark on the global market. The summit in Paris, which focused on the future of artificial intelligence and its regulation, was an important opportunity to present Czech know-how in this field. Pavel emphasized that the Czech Republic has not only high-quality university research but also a growing ecosystem of innovative companies specializing in AI.

Untapped Potential: What Can We Gain?

Artificial intelligence experts are convinced that Czech companies have the potential to gain much more from implementing AI than they currently do. According to an article on ITNetwork.cz, there are numerous areas where the deployment of artificial intelligence could bring dramatic improvements in efficiency and competitiveness. "We see enormous potential, especially in automating routine processes, data analysis, and predictive models," explains Petra Nováková, a consultant specializing in digital transformation. "Companies often have no idea how much time and resources they could save by deploying relatively simple AI tools." The main areas where Czech companies can benefit from AI include:

  • Customer service – chatbots and automated response systems
  • Manufacturing and logistics – optimization of production processes and predictive maintenance
  • Marketing and sales – personalization of offers and prediction of customer behavior
  • Data analysis – processing large volumes of data for informed decision-making
  • Product development – faster iteration and testing of new variants

What Is Preventing Czech Companies from Adopting AI?

So why are Czech companies hesitant to implement AI technologies? There are several reasons:

  1. Lack of knowledge and awareness – many managers do not have a clear idea of how to use AI in their specific field.
  2. Concerns about high costs – the initial investment in AI technologies may be discouraging, especially for smaller companies.
  3. Lack of specialized workers – the Czech Republic does not have enough experts capable of implementing advanced AI solutions.
  4. Uncertainty about return on investment – companies often question the measurable benefits of AI.
  5. Concerns about security risks – especially when processing sensitive data.

How Can We Improve the Situation?

There are several steps that could help accelerate AI adoption in the Czech business environment:

For companies:
Start with small, clearly defined projects with measurable results.
Invest in employee education in the field of digital skills.
Cooperate with academia and specialized consultants.
Follow case studies of similar companies in your industry.

For the state and institutions:
Focus on supporting education in AI and data science.
Create incentives for companies investing in advanced technologies.
Support cooperation between academia and the commercial sector.
Ensure access to funding for innovative projects.

At the Crossroads of the Technological Future

Czech companies are at a crossroads. They can remain passive observers of the technological revolution, or actively embrace the challenges and opportunities that artificial intelligence brings. As experience from abroad shows, companies that have managed to quickly adapt AI to their processes gain a significant competitive advantage. President Pavel rightly pointed to the potential of Czech companies in the field of AI at the Paris summit. Now it is up to us to turn this potential into reality. With high-quality research, a growing startup ecosystem, and a long tradition of technical education, we have all the prerequisites to become a significant player in the field of artificial intelligence. The question, therefore, is not whether we can afford to invest in AI, but rather whether we can afford not to.
