Claude Haiku 4.5 from Anthropic arrived rather quietly. It was not accompanied by talk of a breakthrough in the world of artificial intelligence, nor did it claim the position of the smartest AI available today. However, anyone who considers it merely “another” AI model is mistaken. Haiku 4.5 has indeed brought about a revolution! While it may not be Anthropic's largest language model, it offers an unprecedented combination of speed, accuracy, and affordability.
One-third the price, twice the speed
Haiku 4.5 was launched in October of this year and did not cause a major sensation at first glance. However, more attentive users immediately noticed one crucial thing. Haiku offers similar capabilities to Sonnet 4, an AI model that was considered the absolute leader in coding when it was launched five months ago. However, Haiku delivers similar performance at one-third the price and twice the speed.
Top-tier accuracy in real-world use
In addition to its speed and attractive price, Haiku 4.5 also impresses with its accuracy. It handles demanding tasks more than reliably, making it a unique partner for companies that use AI in real-world operations. Haiku 4.5 is suitable for customer support tools, chats, and task automation. It also performs exceptionally well in coding, where it surpasses both its predecessors and competing language models.
Better context understanding, extended thinking, and coding capabilities
Anthropic's new model boasts not only a context window of 200k tokens, but also better utilization of it. When it comes to context, it is more perceptive than its predecessor, and when it detects that it is approaching the limit, it summarizes the most important steps and frees up space for further work. In addition to handling context better, it also supports extended thinking (extended thinking mode), which allows it to “think” more and provide more human-like and reliable answers.
According to available benchmarks, it can also analyze images, operate computers and work with external tools (surpassing Sonnet 4 here as well), and is less prone to hallucinations and problematic responses.
Small model, maximum safety
Claude Haiku 4.5 also underwent a series of tests designed to assess its safety. The results showed that the model exhibits a low level of concerning behavior and is not only safer than its predecessor, Haiku 3.5, but also than Claude Sonnet 4.5 or Claude Opus 4.1. This currently makes it Anthropic's safest model.
Haiku 4.5: Sonnet 4 capabilities in a more accessible form
Although the new Claude Haiku 4.5 model is not the best model available today, its performance and capabilities match those of Sonnet 4. Compared to this popular model, however, it offers twice the speed and costs paying users one-third as much. According to available benchmark tests, it even outperforms the popular Sonnet 4 in some areas. Therefore, if you are looking for a high-quality, affordable, and fast AI model that offers reliability and versatility, Claude Haiku 4.5 is definitely worth trying.
