Anthropic, the company behind the Claude chatbot, is quickly emerging as a savvy player in artificial intelligence. According to reports from The Wall Street Journal, the company expects to break even as early as 2028. This is thanks to strong interest from businesses in its tools, which help with programming, automation, and other enterprise tasks. Anthropic recently raised its growth estimates by as much as 28%. It now expects revenue of up to $70 billion (approximately CZK 1.6 trillion at an exchange rate of CZK 23 to the dollar) by 2028, a huge leap from roughly $5 billion (about CZK 115 billion) this year.
This success stems from its focus on practical applications. Claude is becoming popular among developers and businesses looking for a reliable solution for their day-to-day work. Instead of major campaigns, Anthropic focuses on what businesses really need, and that approach is paying off.
Who Will Win the Race?
On the other hand, OpenAI, the creator of the famous ChatGPT, is facing major challenges. The company is reportedly set to accumulate losses of up to $74 billion (around CZK 1.7 trillion) by 2028, mainly due to enormous spending on computing power and infrastructure. It is not expected to turn a profit until 2030, two years later than Anthropic. This means that while OpenAI invests in large-scale projects, Anthropic is sticking to a more efficient approach.
The comparison in the area of APIs, which are interfaces for developers, is also interesting. Anthropic expects its API revenue in 2025 to be twice that of OpenAI. This suggests that Claude is becoming the preferred choice for businesses that want not only performance but also a rapid return on investment.
Why Is Anthropic Ahead?
Anthropic shows that an AI company does not necessarily have to be the loudest to succeed. Its strategy focused on business and efficiency is delivering results more quickly. While OpenAI struggles with high costs, Anthropic is growing thanks to demand for tools like Claude, which help with coding and automation, attracting investors.
It appears that Anthropic is taking the lead in the race for profitability in the AI world, thanks to smart planning and a focus on users' real needs.
