Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company, has just announced the opening of new offices in Paris and Munich. These moves follow the recent opening of branches in Tokyo, Seoul, and Bengaluru. The company is thus strengthening its position in Europe, where it already has offices in London, Dublin, and Zurich. Over the past year, the number of employees in the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) has tripled, and further growth is expected with the new offices.
European companies are increasingly relying on Anthropic's Claude tool for their day-to-day work. EMEA has become the company's fastest-growing region, with annual revenue increasing ninefold over the past year. The number of large European customers, each accounting for more than $100,000 (approximately CZK 2.3 million) in annual revenue, has increased tenfold.
Chris Ciauri, Anthropic's head of international operations, said that Europe is home to many innovative companies. According to him, business leaders see major opportunities in artificial intelligence. The company is therefore expanding its team in Europe to better meet the needs of local users.
Claude in European Companies
Research from the Anthropic Economic Index suggests that artificial intelligence is affecting traditional industries across Europe, from German manufacturing and French tourism to Swedish web development. Claude helps companies such as L'Oréal, BMW, SAP, and Sanofi write new computer programs, improve software, and troubleshoot network issues. The same applies to digital companies such as Lovable, N26, Pigment, Qonto, and Doctolib, where accuracy is crucial.
Germany and France are among Europe's largest economies, making them ideal locations for expansion. Both countries rank among the world's top 20 in per-capita Claude usage. They are home to leading companies in healthcare, finance, the automotive industry, aerospace, and retail. The new offices in Paris and Munich will serve as hubs for business growth, policy collaboration, and partnership development. Employees in Europe will cover everything from research and engineering to sales and operations.
New Team for Europe
Anthropic is building a strong leadership team tailored to European needs. Guillaume Princen leads the startups, mid-sized companies, and digital-native businesses division in EMEA. Pip White, the new head of Northern EMEA, oversees the United Kingdom, Ireland, Benelux, the Nordic countries, and Israel from the London office. She has 25 years of experience at companies such as Salesforce, Google, and Slack, where she helped drive growth in Europe.
Thomas Remy, head of Southern EMEA, oversees France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Middle East, and Africa from Paris. He spent 11 years at Google Cloud, where he built the business and led the EMEA data and artificial intelligence team. The company will soon announce a head for DACH and Central and Eastern Europe, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
To get off to a quick start in Germany and France, Anthropic is collaborating with local institutions. Together with the LAS Art Foundation, it is supporting a major exhibition in Berlin next year focused on art and technology. It is also supporting two hackathons organized by TUM.ai, a student initiative at the Technical University of Munich that trains students in software, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
In France, Anthropic has partnered with Unaite, an organization that builds developer communities and supports artificial intelligence education, for two hackathons in 2026. Overall, Anthropic has offices in 12 cities, including San Francisco, Seattle, New York, and Washington, D.C.
