Chipmaker TSMC Reaches One-Trillion-Dollar Valuation
Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) has just achieved a remarkable milestone—its market capitalization has surpassed one trillion US dollars. This happened in July 2025, making TSMC the first Asian technology company outside Silicon Valley to join this exclusive club. According to available information, this is the first such case since the brief moment in 2007 when Chinese company PetroChina achieved a similar milestone. TSMC now stands alongside global giants such as Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Alphabet.
This leap was no accident. TSMC shares have risen by nearly 50 percent since April 2025, propelling the company past the trillion-dollar threshold. The company, a key chip supplier to firms such as Apple and Nvidia, is benefiting from the incredible growth in demand for advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips. TSMC raised its revenue growth forecast to 30 percent, as demand for AI chips shows no signs of slowing.
Financial Strength and Key Clients
In the second quarter of 2025, TSMC reported net profit of 398.3 billion New Taiwan dollars (approximately USD 13.5 billion, CZK 310.5 billion), representing a year-on-year increase of 60.7 percent. The company’s revenue jumped by 39 percent to 934 billion New Taiwan dollars (around USD 32 billion, CZK 750 billion). Much of this success comes from the high-performance computing segment, particularly AI chips, which account for 60 percent of total sales.
TSMC dominates the production of chips based on 3nm and 5nm technology, which is crucial for the latest AI applications. The company supplies chips not only to Apple and Nvidia but also to AMD, which relies on its manufacturing capacity for advanced processors. This strategic position enables TSMC to maintain strong pricing power, and analysts expect the company could raise prices further in the future as demand for AI chips exceeds supply.
TSMC’s growth underscores how AI is transforming the entire technology industry. The company is at the center of the global shift toward artificial intelligence, from model training to smart devices. Analysts predict that TSMC will maintain its dominance thanks to investments in new facilities, such as its global R&D center in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This success not only strengthens Taiwan’s position in the global economy but also demonstrates how chipmakers play a key role in the digital future.
TSMC is thus entering a new era as a trillion-dollar player, driven by the world’s insatiable appetite for AI technologies. If you are an investor or tech enthusiast, this is a story worth following—because TSMC has just shown that Asian innovation can compete with the biggest players.
