OpenAI launched Space and Pages at DevDay in San Francisco on September 29, 2026, adding a shared workspace and document editor to ChatGPT. The features bring colleagues and AI agents into the same work environment. OpenAI also announced collaborative presentations, with Slides expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
Space, shared files and Dots
Space is a shared environment within ChatGPT where co-workers can collaborate with the chatbot and their own Dots. These newly introduced AI agent personas can carry out tasks on a user’s behalf. During the presentation, Sam Altman said Space keeps pages and files together, much as a file-storage service would.
In his presentation, Altman explained that the workspace also supports instructions attached to individual pages. His example was a page instructed to check a team channel and update its contents using the information it found.
Pages for writing, research and visual content
Alongside Space, OpenAI launched Pages, a word processor designed for people and AI agents to collaborate on documents. According to OpenAI, users can write and conduct research in the editor. Its supported activities also include generating charts, creating images and visualizing information.
Slides creation and planned rollout
The announced Slides feature is intended to let users create presentations by describing them in a ChatGPT conversation. Once a presentation has been generated, multiple employees and AI agents will be able to work on it together, including editing its contents and leaving comments.
Slides was not yet available when the features were announced. An OpenAI representative said that it would roll out to users in the coming weeks.
