Oracle and Meta Discuss $20 Billion AI Cloud Services Deal

Oracle is currently in talks with Meta Platforms over a major cloud computing contract that could be worth around $20 billion (CZK 410 billion) over several years. This information was confirmed by a person familiar with the details. Meta is already an Oracle customer, but the new deal would significantly increase the number of Nvidia graphics processing units that Meta leases from the company. The talks are at an advanced stage, but the terms have not yet been finalized and may change, according to a report by Bloomberg, which first reported the news. The article’s authors said Oracle would provide Meta with computing power to train and deploy artificial intelligence models.

Expansion of Meta’s Capacity

Meta Platforms is not only building its own data centers but also expanding contracts with cloud providers to quickly secure the capacity it needs. It recently signed a deal with Google worth more than $10 billion (CZK 205 billion). This approach allows Meta to respond more quickly to artificial intelligence needs while its own infrastructure is still under construction. For example, Meta recently secured nearly $30 billion (CZK 616 billion) in financing for a data center in Louisiana. CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently said that Meta plans to spend around $600 billion (approximately CZK 12.3 trillion) on servers through 2028.

Oracle’s Growth in the Cloud Market

These talks represent another success for Oracle, which is becoming a major player in cloud computing. Last week, The Wall Street Journal reported that OpenAI had committed to spending a staggering $300 billion (approximately CZK 6.2 trillion) with Oracle over several years beginning in 2027. During Oracle’s earnings conference call last week, the company told investors that it had signed major contracts with OpenAI, xAI, Meta, and Nvidia. Nvidia has also become a major customer of cloud servers powered by its own chips.

Reports of the talks led to an increase in Oracle’s share price, demonstrating the importance of such partnerships in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Meta is focused on developing its AI projects, including restructuring its AI group to achieve superintelligence. This deal could help Meta address the current shortage of AI computing resources, while Oracle strengthens its role as a key supplier to leading technology companies.
