"AI effectively democratizes expertise," the study states. "It enables people to go beyond the boundaries of their specialization and approach problems more comprehensively."
3. AI Improves the Emotional Experience of Work
Surprisingly, participants using AI reported more positive emotional reactions while solving tasks. They felt greater enthusiasm and energy, along with less anxiety and frustration. This effect was even stronger than the positive emotional impact of traditional teamwork.
Implications for Organizations
These findings have far-reaching implications for the future of work:
"Organizations will need to reconsider the optimal size and composition of teams," the researchers warn. "If AI-supported individuals can achieve the same results as traditional teams, this opens up possibilities for more flexible and efficient organizational structures."
However, the study also revealed that when seeking truly exceptional solutions (in the top 10% of ratings), teams working with AI achieved the best results.
