AI Boom Drives Nvidia to Record $5 Trillion Valuation

Nvidia became the first company in history whose market value exceeded $5 trillion (approximately CZK 117 trillion). This milestone came in October 2025, when the company’s shares closed trading up 3.1% at $207.16 (around CZK 4,850). The rise was supported by President Trump’s comments ahead of a planned meeting with CEO Jensen Huang, where Blackwell chips were discussed, including possible approval for exports to China.

Key announcements at the GTC conference

At the GTC conference in Washington, D.C., Nvidia unveiled a range of new developments that boosted investor optimism. The company announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy to build seven new supercomputers, including one equipped with 10,000 Blackwell chips. Another agreement involves the sale of 1,000 GPUs to pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly to support drug development. Nvidia also entered into a partnership with Uber to develop a fleet of autonomous vehicles and with Nokia on the development of 6G technology.

Nvidia expects GPU orders worth $500 billion (approximately CZK 11.7 trillion) by the end of 2026. The company invested $1 billion (about CZK 23.4 billion) in Nokia, with part of that funding going toward AI projects. Other collaborations involve Palantir, Oracle, Cisco, T-Mobile, Amazon, Foxconn, Caterpillar, and Belden, where Nvidia supplies technology for robotics and wireless networks.

Market challenges and competition

Although Nvidia dominates the market, it faces growing competition. Rival AMD signed an agreement with OpenAI to supply up to 6 gigawatts of AI processors and another with Oracle for 50,000 GPUs. Qualcomm is entering the market with its own AI accelerators. Nvidia itself is investing up to $100 billion in OpenAI, strengthening its position, but customers such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft are developing their own chips.

Developments in quantum technologies

Nvidia introduced the Nvidia NVQLink architecture for connecting quantum computers with its AI chips, with partners such as Rigetti and IonQ. This initiative aims to accelerate the development of quantum supercomputers. In August 2025, Nvidia and AMD agreed to pay the U.S. government 15% of their H20 chip sales to China, which affected their market strategy.

Share growth and market context

Nvidia shares rose by more than 50% in 2025 and doubled from their April lows following the tariff announcement. In the most recent quarter, the company reported zero sales of H20 chips to China, but the agreement with the U.S. government could open the door. Nvidia’s total revenue exceeded $100 billion (approximately CZK 2.34 trillion) in the first two quarters of the year. This success underscores the company’s role in the global AI boom, where customers such as Meta, Microsoft, and research laboratories purchase its GPUs for data centers.
